Some pick chocolate, while others pick different kinds of sweets, including the famous conversation heart candies. But when did these candies come to be what we know them today? Conversation hearts, sometimes called Sweethearts, are made with only a few ingredients: corn syrup, sugar, gelatin, and food coloring.

(WHTM) – Halloween occurs every year on Oct. 31. But why do we celebrate it on that day? Halloween follows many of the traditions from the ancient Gaelic festival of Samhain, which celebrates the end of the harvest season and the start of “the dark half” of the year, according to the History Channel. Though the festival occurred on Nov. 1, it started on the evening of Oct. 31. It was also a time of year when the season changed.

(WHTM) — Malls are becoming less and less prominent in the United States. But there is one Pennsylvania mall that is thriving and is one currently of the largest malls in the country. The King of Prussia Mall is located in King of Prussia, just outside the limits of Philadelphia. The mall itself opened on Nov. 25, 1963, and now is considered to be the third largest shopping mall in the country when it comes to top leasable space. The mall opened in 1963 and was only one building.

(NEXSTAR/WHTM) – Some of the coldest weather of the season in the Midstate just occurred the last few days, and with cold sometimes comes strong winds. These two things combined can lead to many problems. Being outside in the cold may not only be uncomfortable, but it can also be dangerous. Prolonged exposure to cold temperatures can, in some cases, lead to frostbite. Frostbite, according to Mayo Clinic, is an injury caused by skin and underlying tissues freezing.
