Update: The collision no longer appears on the traffic dashboard. --------------------------------MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) - A section of a busy Mount Pleasant roadway is shut down Saturday evening due to a collision. Highway 17 southbound at Anna Knapp Boulevard is blocked off while crews work to clear the scene, according to the Mount Pleasant Police Department. Traffic is being redirected from Anna Knapp Boulevard onto Johnny Dodds Boulevard. Police did not say when the roadway would reopen.

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) - A pedestrian died Friday after being struck by a vehicle traveling on Interstate 26 through North Charleston, according to state troopers. A 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling east on I-26 when the driver struck a pedestrian attempting to cross the road by the 209-mile marker. The pedestrian died on the scene from their injuries. The driver of the trailblazer was not injured. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is the lead investigative agency.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - Multiple fire crews responded to an apartment fire in West Ashley Friday night, officials confirmed. Charleston Fire Engine 116 was near the scene when its crew saw smoke and headed to the Ashley Oaks Apartments just after 8 p.m.The engine arrived 30 seconds after dispatch called the report in and saw smoke venting from a two-story multi-family building. Crews immediately began an attack and managed to contain most of the damage to a bedroom while evacuating the building.

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) )- Charleston County deputies are investigating a deadly collision between a train and a pedestrian that happened Friday night. The pedestrian was struck near the railroad crossing on Highway 162 and Railroad Avenue in Ravenel about a mile down, according to Alexis Douglas, spokesperson for the Charleston County Sheriff's Office. An Amtrak passenger train hit the pedestrian just before 10 p.m., and they died at the scene.
