When Bob Osiek and Pedro Heller bought Esquire Lounge from Gene "Beans" O'Neil and his wife, Dee, in 1975, the two men initially tried to brainstorm other names for the establishment. "That's kind of a sappy thing, but we couldn't come up with anything, so we finally just said ... 'We'll just leave the name,'" Osiek said. Sappy-sounding or not, the name certainly hasn't hindered the business' longevity.
