The victim arranged to meet Maxwel Lewis near an alleyway in Ashcroft Road, Ipswich, in the early hours of August 30 last year after chatting with him on the Grindr app, Ipswich Crown Court was told. The men decided to go to the victim’s home near Claydon and had gone to a bedroom where they kissed and sexual activity took place. “Everything seemed okay and the victim had no concerns,” said Joanne Eley, prosecuting.

After Niall Drake’s fingerprint was found on the wrap police went to his home in July 2022 and found cocaine worth £30, ketamine worth £200 and £20 cash, Ipswich Crown Court heard. Drake, 32, of Reeve Street, Lowestoft, admitted being involved in the supply of cocaine, ecstasy and ketamine and was given a two year prison sentence suspended for 18 months, tagged trail monitoring for nine months and a 20 day rehabilitation activity requirement.

Leslie Gunfield, who was taking his dog for an early morning walk, had spotted Barclay looking for pizza boxes in bins at the rear of a Co-op store in the Triangle Precinct in Frinton in February 2015. Mr Gunfield told Barclay, who was then 46, he shouldn’t be there and threatened to call security, Ipswich Crown Court heard on Monday. Without warning, Barclay had then come from behind and jumped on his back causing him to go to the ground.

Before Ipswich Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing via a prison video link on Tuesday was Ricardo Diogo of Lister Road, Ipswich. He pleaded not guilty to international strangulation and assault causing actual bodily harm. The offences were allegedly committed on May 18 this year.

Police saw 30-year-old Rhys Hennerby, who was riding a bike, approach a class A drug user in the area of Orford Street and South Street in February, Ipswich Crown Court heard. Hennerby and the woman disappeared behind a brick wall and suspecting a drug deal was taking place the officers approached Hennerby who tried to make off. He fell off his bike and as he ran away off he discarded a man bag, some wraps of heroin and cocaine and a mobile phone, said Peter Gair, prosecuting.
