Legislation supporting regionalization of the California Independent System Operator's extended day-ahead market passed out of a California Senate energy committee April 22, a key action in moving the proposal forward. Senate Bill 540, the "Pathways Bill," sponsored by Sen. Josh Becker (D-District 13) and Sen. Henry Stern (D-District 27) was unanimously approved by the Senate Committee on Energy, Utilities and Communications with a 17-0 vote.

California lawmakers are considering a pause in state building codes in order to speed the construction of new homes in the wake of fires in southern California, drawing opposition from clean-energy interests. Assembly Bill 306 would put a moratorium on adoption or modification of new state and local building codes, including green building standards, for a six-year period beginning June 1.
