Calne residents have been complaining of a bad smell over the town for much of this year, with some even claiming it had caused them to fall ill. The Environment Agency has been investigating and in its most recent update confirmed it believes the “main source” of the odour is the Lower Compton Landfill operated by Hills Waste Solutions Ltd. It added that while this is likely to be the primary cause, there are many potential sources causing the issues.

The National Lottery has reissued its appeal to find a EuroMillions winner who bought a ticket in Wiltshire for the draw on December 27 last year. As previously reported, the lucky contestant scooped a prize of £1 million but is yet to claim it six months later.

In an episode aired on Friday, June 13, Bargain Hunt presenter and antiques expert Eric Knowles visited Wiltshire for a feature on the county’s recognisable white horses. Mr Knowles explored the Hackpen White Horse, near Broad Hinton, alongside Wiltshire Museum director David Dawson. The Hackpen White Horse was created in 1838 to celebrate the Coronation of Queen Victoria and is one of eight figures still visible to people across the county.
