    After reaching record temperatures twice last week with the hottest days of 2025, Laredo is projected to stay below triple digits for the foreseeable future. Laredo reached a high of 106 degrees on both April 2 and 3, breaking the previous record highs for those days by one degree according to the National Weather Service. It surpassed the previous high of 104 for 2025, recorded on March 14, and was the hottest temperature in the city since it hit 109 on Aug. 22 last year.

    The first murder this year was a shooting Jan. 14 in the 1800 block of Barrios Street. Louis Margarito Rendon III, 49, was identified as the victim, and Heidy Montalvo, 23, was identified as the suspect as both were found dead with gunshot wounds to the head in an apparent murder-suicide. The second murder was a shooting Feb. 9 at 202 E. Saunders St. Responding officers discovered Angel Morales, 31, with a fatal gunshot wound to the head and identified Alberto Cantu, 28, as the suspect.
