The world's largest food awards have come to Clonmel in County Tipperary. The Great Taste Awards celebrate the best products on the planet and has moved its judging panel from the UK to Ireland due to new import controls caused by Brexit. It's the first time the awards have been held outside the UK for 30 years. CEO of County Tipperary Chamber, Michelle Aylward says having the awards in Clonmel is a great boost for the area. "It's fantastic to have the Great Taste Awards here in Clonmel.

Investigations are underway in Clonmel, after security personnel were assaulted by several people, leading to one worker requiring hospital treatment. The security personnel were contracted to work on the site in the Heywood Road area of the South Tipperary town. It’s understood the site was earmarked to accommodate refugees in modular homes. A number of vehicles were also damaged during the incident, which happened on Thursday (May 17th). One of the security workers required hospital treatment.

Gardaí in Waterford are investigating vandalism in the city after a death threat targeting a political party was sprayed on a wall. The writing on the wall, located near the Grange Manor Estate, read 'Kill the Shiners' alongside an image of a 'gun sight'. The local Sinn Féin party has reported it to Gardai and it's understood CCTV in the area is being checked as part of a Garda investigation.

Tipperary News Credit: @GardaTraffic A driver in Tipperary has been charged after committing multiple driving offences. The car had no NCT or tax and was also uninsured. Tipperary Roads Policing Unit was on patrol in Cashel and was alerted by the automatic number-plate recognition system in their jeep. An Garda Síochána impounded the vehicle and the driver will face court at a later date.
