An investigation has been launched after a much-loved Co Donegal church was gutted in an overnight fire. Firefighters and the emergency services fought gallantly to save St Mary's Church in Derrybeg overnight. The blaze broke out at around 4am on Easter Monday. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the building was left gutted. Nobody was injured in the huge blaze, which could be seen for miles around.

The grandmother of a Co Tyrone child killed in Donegal said her life was "shattered beyond belief" after his death. Ronan Wilson, from Kildress, died after he was struck by a car on the Wild Atlantic Way route near Bundoran in Co Donegal on September 23, 2023. Sergee Kelly knocked down and killed the nine-year-old boy after reaching speeds of up to 111km/h and stuck him with such force that he propelled him 58 metres down the road from the point of impact.
