    SUTHERLAND—A 35-year-old Sutherland man was arrested about 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, on an O’Brien County warrant for assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. The arrest of Scott Thomas Nasers Jr. stemmed from a man contacting law enforcement regarding a woman who told him she had been assaulted by Nasers about 3 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, in Sutherland, according to the Sutherland Police Department.

    LITTLE ROCK—A 34-year-old Little Rock man was arrested Wednesday, May 28, on a charge of second-degree sexual abuse. The arrest of Jose Luis Vasquez stemmed from him putting his hand on a child’s genitalia in 2022 in Little Rock, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. A no contact order has been issued against Vasquez with the child.

    ORANGE CITY—A Sioux County Jail inmate faces an additional charge for stealing from another inmate at the facility in Orange City. The charge of 44-year-old April Chrupalyk of Hawarden stemmed from her taking a pack of Kentucky Select nicotine pouches that had been purchased by another individual on Tuesday, April 27, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office. Chrupalyk concealed the pouches in a Bible and then consumed them. The pouches were valued at $13.

    MAY CITY—A 43-year-old rural Everly man was cited Wednesday, May 28, on a charge of first-degree theft. The citing of Joshua Allen Griffin stemmed from him receiving a check on Jan. 3, 2024, for $33,800, of which $27,800 was to be used to prepay for the purchase of garage doors for the shop of a rural May City man, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. Griffin told the man that he needed the full amount of the cost of the doors before he could order them.
