    Oct. 25—The Jasper County prosecutor's office dismissed felony domestic assault charges that a Diamond man was facing when the alleged victim, his girlfriend, failed to show up to testify at a preliminary hearing on Thursday. Oliver Cooper, 41, was charged with second-degree domestic assault and resisting arrest following a disturbance July 7 in Joplin. The prosecutor's office cited the girlfriend's unwillingness to testify against Cooper as the reason for the dismissal.

    Oct. 25—A 39-year-old woman died of injuries sustained when she was struck by an SUV Thursday afternoon in a crosswalk at the intersection of North Main Street and Murphy Boulevard in Joplin. Abby Zeb, of Joplin, was taken to Mercy Hospital Joplin following the 5:46 p.m. accident and was pronounced dead a short time later, according to the Joplin Police Department. Zeb is reported to have been crossing the street when a 2014 Jeep Wrangler driven by Destinie Steinkraus struck her in a crosswalk.
