COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Two children who were reported missing earlier this week were found in a tree stand following an intense ground search in Columbus County. On Wednesday, June 18th, the mother reported two missing juveniles from her home on Country Club Trail. According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s office, the juveniles were last seen around 9 p.m. Tuesday night. When the children’s mother awoke Wednesday morning, they were gone.

The festival will take place on and around Burgaw’s historic courthouse square, located at 100 S Wright Street. The kickoff concert begins Friday at 7 p.m. featuring The Tams.

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — This is sea turtle nesting season and if you see one of these creatures come ashore in the Cape Fear you’re encouraged to leave them alone. According to the Topsail Turtle Project, someone spotted a set of tracks on Thursday near the Surf City pier. They say it appears the turtle attempted to dig a nest twice and was possibly disturbed before crawling back to the ocean without laying eggs.

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Thunderstorms can pop up at any time during the summer months and that often sends beachgoers scrambling to seek shelter inside. Recently, there’s been lots of storms in the Cape Fear and lifeguards at Wrightsville Beach will often leave their lifeguard stands when an impending storm is on the way.
