TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) - The Hillcrest Patriots are looking to bounce back after dropping their region opener to Hoover a week ago, 35-6. The Patriots were this week’s SIDELINE Pep Rally of the Week, presented by Jack’s, and head coach Jamie Mitchell spoke to Jeh Jeh Pruitt ahead of Friday’s game against Vestavia Hills. “You better bring you’re a-game every Friday night,” Mitchell said about the toughness of Region 3.

On The Set Summer Film Camp allows a group of students the chance to learn all about the movie industry, from production to acting, lighting, and management. The kids get a chance to direct, film, and act in a movie during the week-long camp, but the highlight is getting mentored by a real Hollywood star.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - America’s oldest baseball park, Rickwood Field, is having a very special event this Saturday, July 27. It’s the Rickwood Field Vintage Baseball Card Show and Open House and it is a free event for the public. There will be former Major League Baseball players like former University of Alabama star Andy Phillips, former Braves Red Marlin and Chris Hammond, former Brave and Marlin Wes Helms, and Willie Mays’ son Mike Mays.

If you have a child between the ages of six and 14, you can bring them out to Cooper Green Baseball Fields Tuesday, July 30 for the Embrace The Process Baseball and Softball Clinic. The free clinic is a Partnership between The Birmingham Park and Recreation Department, Miles College, and Pelham High School. The Clinic is being held at the Cooper Green Baseball Fields at 112 Dorothy Drive SW in Birmingham from 10 a.m. until noon.

(WBRC) - WBRC is taking viewers behind-the-scenes and to a different media platform in celebration of 75 years of TV news through the podcast WBRC 75: The stories that shaped our state. “We’re going to talk about the April 27 tornadoes, we’re going to talk about the day [Nick] Saban was hired,” explained Alex Jones, WBRC News producer. Jones produces The Four on WBRC and came up with the idea for this podcast.

(WBRC) - If you have a disability or is a caretaker of someone with a disability, you have a chance to voice your opinion on how the city, state, and country can improve the services of those living or taking care of someone with a disability. The Governor’s Disability Policy Summit takes place on Tuesday, June 18th. The event will be hosted by the Lakeshore Foundation in Homewood. The price of admission is $15 which includes lunch from Taziki’s and a swag bag.

June 1 is National Trails Day. With sultry summer days ahead, it’s the perfect time to take a walk, hike or jog along a Freshwater Land Trust (FWLT) trail or other Alabama trailway. National Trails Day is hosted annually by the American Hiking Society and celebrates all trails on public lands, including historic and national scenic historic trails. In June 2023, the FWLT reached 129 miles of trails as the nonprofit added 2 miles to the popular Five Mile Creek Greenway in north Jefferson County.
