Ohio's tornado season is considered to be April through June, according to the National Weather Service. However, tornadoes can and have happened in every month of the year. Ohio averages 21 tornadoes a year, calculated from 30 years' worth of data, the weather service said. Tornado season typically peaks in June and trails off into the fall. After a week of sunny skies and warmer temperatures, Greater Cincinnati and parts of Northern Kentucky have a chance of wind and rain as we begin the St. Patrick's Day weekend. Saturday kicked off with a severe thunderstorm warning for a storm southwest of Versailles, Indiana. The weather service reported 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. That warning was allowed to expire at 6:30 a.m., but forecasters have issued watches that stretch through the day.

Update, 12:30 p.m.: The second round of rain and thunderstorms will move into Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky in the next one to two hours, the National Weather Service in Wilmington said in a tweet. A flood watch is also expanded to include Butler and Warren counties in Ohio.
