CINCINNATI (WXIX) - One of the people arrested in connection with the fire that damaged the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge (Big Mac Bridge) and shut down southbound Interstate 471 for months is expected to be sentenced Thursday. Zachary Stump, 23, is expected to be sentenced after taking a plea deal in May. His sentencing was delayed because his attorney wanted a pre-sentencing investigation.

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Hamilton County Clerk of Court Pavan Parikh must put thousands of eviction cases back online and rescind the illegal policy he created to do it, the Ohio Supreme Court ruled Wednesday. Upholding the appeals court decision last fall, the high court’s unanimous opinion says Parikh can’t defy a judicial order by eliminating remote access to online court records of older residential evictions.

If passed into law, the “Ohio Prenatal Equal Protection Act” would overturn a state constitution amendment voters passed less than two years ago in the fall of 2023.

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Cincinnati police say they are investigating after a shooting victim showed up at one of the area hospitals overnight. A person shot in the back arrived at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center via private transportation around 9 p.m. Tuesday, said Captain Stephen Bower. The victim’s injuries are considered non-life-threatening, he said. So far, the investigation determined the shooting may have occurred on Chalfonte Place in Avondale, according to Captain Bower.

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Multiple cars caught on fire at a tow lot in Northside overnight, according to the Cincinnati Fire Department. No one was hurt when flames broke out in the 4200 block of Dane Avenue starting around 2 a.m. Wednesday. The cause remains under investigation, fire officials say.
