ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Over the last 40 years, Catholic Charities has helped to resettle 15,000 refugees in Rochester but from here on out, the agency will no longer be assisting new refugees making the trip to America. President and CEO Lori VanAuken says “unprecedented changes in U.S. immigration policy” have had a major impact on the agency’s ability to serve New Americans.

Huther Doyle has been a mainstay along East Avenue in the City of Rochester for decades but due to federal regulations, it hasn’t been able to offer all of the medications that help people in recovery, until now.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The City of Rochester is looking to fill some of its vacant lots with modular homes that can then be sold to first-time homebuyers. The city has posted a request for proposals to design, manufacture, deliver, and install up to nine factory-built homes that would be placed on City-owned vacant lots as part of a new pilot program. Mayor Malik Evans says the hope is to expand homeownership opportunities, advance housing equity, and build stronger, more equitable neighborhoods.

The museum currently has one of the largest nitrate film collections in the country. The collection, which includes nearly 26,000 reels of film, is housed in a non-descript building in the Town of Chili and that’s for good reason.

Months after he had the body cremated and held a memorial service, he learned it was not true. “I looked for her for three years, hard, I never gave up,” says Mark Crews, Shanice Crews’ father. In 2021, Shanice dropped off her two children to family members in Rochester and disappeared.
