The little boy was found wandering on busy Merrick Avenue – unhurt but frightened. NEW YORK -- Hurricane Milton is forecast to make landfall in Florida late Wednesday into Thursday, with catastrophic winds, storm surge and flash flooding. Evacuation orders are in place for more than a dozen counties along the state's central west coast, where this is expected to be a historic and destructive storm. Several airports have suspended operations, and Disney World and other businesses also closed.

Carfentanil seized on Long Island for first time NEW YORK -- Carfentanil, a synthetic opioid 100 times more potent than fentanyl, has been seized on Long Island for the first time. A seven-month narcotics investigation just led to a seizure of the deadly drug, typically used to tranquilize large mammals, in Suffolk County. Drug known on the street as "Super Mario" Warrants went out for four suspected carfentanil drug peddles. Three pleaded not guilty, but one remains at large.

An entire block of Head of the Harbor on Suffolk's North Shore has been cut off from the village since the Aug. 18 flood. It took ingenuity and selfless acts to find a solution.

False threats at Nassau County schools have more than tripled compared to last year UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Nassau County schools have seen an increase in false threats so far this school year. Public and private school students are off to a rocky start. "This year to date, there are 80 school threats ... Last year at this time, we had 23," said Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder.
