In the wake of Hurricane Helene and its disastrous affects in the western regions of North Carolina, Fayetteville area businesses and nonprofits are coming together to help organize relief. Cameron Carlotti, owner of Sol’s Arcade + Taproom is partnering with Off - Road Outreach, Axios Inspires Foundation, the Fayetteville Woodpeckers and Litchfield Realty to gather supplies and volunteers to head west to provide aid. “Anything helps someone who’s lost everything,” said Carlotti.

FirstHealth Convenient Care – Whispering Pines will see patients in the new location, moving just down the road to 225 Capital Drive, Suite 101. The new clinic offers more space and resources to better serve the urgent medical needs of the community.

South River Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) presented a check for $9,030 to the Cumberland County Fire Chiefs Association to support Emergency Services and its fire prevention education initiatives. South River EMC Vice President of Member Services and Public Relations Catherine O’Dell made the donation to Fire Chiefs Association President Freddy Johnson, Sr., at the Cumberland County Emergency Operations Center Sept. 23. The grant is part of South River EMC’s Operation Round Up program.

Last week, business leaders from around the nation gathered at Robeson Community College for the NC Commission of Indian Affairs Inaugural Business Symposium. The event sought to empower American Indian businesses, building bridges with services and programs in North Carolina. Greg Richardson, the Executive Director of the North Carolina Commission of Indian Affairs, also gave welcoming remarks.
