The University of North Carolina at Pembroke honored a trio of distinguished alumni and five former standout student-athletes during Friday's 56th annual Alumni Awards and Hall of Fame Ceremony. The dinner and award show were among the many high points of Homecoming weekend, which included the annual step show, a comedy show, an alumni tailgate party and the homecoming matchup against West Virginia State, in which the Braves defeated the Yellow Jackets 62-17.

The RCC Foundation recently received its largest gift from the Julian T. Pierce Endowment – $28,000 – bringing the total amount received over a span of 11 years to $163,000. The money was raised during the 11th Annual Julian T. Pierce Memorial Art Dinner held earlier this year. “We are deeply honored to accept this gift from the Julian T. Pierce Endowment,” stated RCCPresident Melissa Singler in a press release.

Cape Fear Valley Health held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 29 for the new Cape Fear Valley Health Pavilion – Lillington near the campus of Central Harnett Hospital. Cape Fear Valley broke ground on the facility in August 2023. The facility’s address is 225 Brightwater Drive, Lillington. Guests were invited to tour the facility after the ceremony. The three-story, 66,000-square-foot building is anchored by the new Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center – Lillington.
