A pedestrian was killed in a fatal road accident Thursday morning in Lizella, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said. Christopher Davis, a 53-year-old Macon man, was walking on a quiet road in a wooded neighborhood when he was struck by a Plymouth SUV, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. Deputies were dispatched to the scene around 12:45 a.m. on the 7300 block of Knoxville Road. They found Davis, whose name was announced Friday afternoon, “unresponsive,” the news release said.

A 9-year-old girl on a bike was hit by an SUV in Byron Wednesday, according to the Byron Police Department. Officers said they were dispatched to the collision around 5:30 p.m. on Murdock Lane in a quiet neighborhood next to a cemetery. A 44-year-old Americus man was driving the SUV, police said in a news release. The bicyclist was taken to a children’s hospital in Macon, where she was listed in critical condition, officers said Thursday morning.

Middle Georgia’s first Raising Cane’s fast-food restaurant might soon be coming to north Macon, according to documents from the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission. The Louisiana-born franchise, which specializes in chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast and coleslaw, is planned at 4951 Riverside Drive with a drive-thru, a conditional use application shows. Applicant Kimley Horn filed the application with P&Z, which is expected to be discussed at a commission hearing on June 9.

A human skeleton was found in Peach County Tuesday afternoon, according to the Peach County Coroner’s Office. An employee with the Georgia Department of Transportation was working on the side of northbound Interstate 75 when he discovered bones about 60 feet away from the road, Coroner Kerry Rooks told The Telegraph. “Just nothing but a skeleton,” Rooks said. GDOT workers were looking to cut “some thick brush by a gutter... and that’s when they found it,” Rooks said.
