Community Days will be returning June 13 and 14th in a historic first union of Township and City fire departments. This year Community Days is expected to overfill the park with new and returning events. This year will see a change by changing the parade grand marshal from being a sports celebrity to an outstanding member of the community. Renovations of the City of Dubois and Sandy Township Municipal buildings will cost $71,308.83 more than originally expected following three change orders.

At the March 10 public meeting, Linda Clark asked the City Council what they knew of the broken news that Gieg’s law license was suspended. Gieg’s suspension was postponed pending probation. Gieg was absent from the meeting. The City Council insisted they only recently learned of the issue and didn’t have a comment at the time. At a later meeting, Gieg admitted he had issues with impaired judgement but was taking steps towards recovery.

The Consolidation Fire Subcommittee submitted their response, and alternative suggestions, to the fire study presented last month, March 2025. Concerns the Fire Subcommittee, FSC, had with the fire study as presented. The number of mistakes that made it into the final report raises concerns that the work was either rushed or not reviewed properly beforehand. The FSC estimates that on the lower end the costs of following the fire study’s recommendations are too costly.

Interim Co-Manager Ben Kafferlin stated he’s been hearing the City has mostly been focused on the fire study. Kafferlin understood why residents would assume that. In response, Kafferlin listed tasks that are being done in the City of DuBois and Sandy Township. The list below is not the complete list. Meeting with the DCED and getting financial recommendations. The Pennsylvania Economic League is working on the tax structure.
