MISSOURI, USA — Loud booms recently heard in multiple St. Louis-region communities may have been caused by a sudden temperature drop, according to 5 On Your Side's Weather Impact Team. A rare weather phenomenon, called "frost quakes," was a likely culprit for loud popping sounds heard in Franklin County and surrounding areas on Sunday. The National Weather Service - St. Louis regional office told 5 On Your Side they received multiple frost quake reports, but do not actively track them.

105 to 110-degree heat index likely for St. Louis on Sunday starting at 1 p.m. and last until Monday 8 p.m.ST. LOUIS — The 5 On Your Side Weather Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert for heat and humidity Sunday and Monday. Stay cool and stay hydrated. A Heat Advisory begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday and continues until 8 p.m. on Monday. Highs will be near 100 the next few days with the heat index reaching 105 to 110.
