The defendants accused in connection to this incident were in court on Wednesday facing numerous charges. The order of events began back on June 27 when police say Maxwell Johnston shot 25-year-old Gabriella Caroleo. Caroleo was taken to the hospital but died from her injuries.

    Toms River will no longer dispatch Silverton First Aid to emergency calls because of financial irregularities inside the department, according to Toms River Mayor Dan Rodrick. “We received an email, copied on it, from Chief [Mitch] Little stating he was ordered by Mayor Rodrick to stop dispatching Silverton First Aid,” said Kevin Geoghegan, the Silverton First Aid squad business administrator. And for now, this means the ambulances will remain inside their bays.
