The award, sponsored by Raising Cane’s, Shreveport-Bossier Sports, and Cosse and Silmon Orthodontics, recognizes athletes in sports other than football. Voting takes place online at shreveporttimes.com and the winner will be announced Saturday.

Cedar Creek's Presley Wall was named District 1-1A softball MVP. Cedar Creek's Julie Riser won Coach of the Year. Cedar Creek led the district with seven first-team all-district selections. Cedar Creek softball went undefeated in District 1-1A action this spring and finished 21-10 overall to land several positions on the league’s All-District team, including Julie Riser as Coach of the Year.

Norman Picou, former Red River High School principal, is returning to coaching boys basketball at Loranger High School. Picou previously coached at Southwood, Haughton, and Plain Dealing, demonstrating a consistent passion for basketball. He is leaving a higher-paying administrative position to coach, prioritizing family and his love for the sport. When Norm Picou was patrolling the sidelines at Southwood as the boys basketball coach from 2007-16, he was nothing if not intense.
