No traffic restrictions on University Street will be put in place for a proposed shopping center that could include a Dutch Bros Coffee at the corner of University Street and War Memorial Drive. Two lengthy discussions were held over how the shopping center development would impact traffic at the busy Peoria intersection, but ultimately the Peoria City Council voted Tuesday night to not adopt city staff's recommendation to restrict the flow of traffic on University Street.

PEORIA – In a unanimous vote, City Council once again gave site approval for liquor sales to the location that houses Pop-Up Chicken Shop in the Warehouse District. Pop-Up Chicken Shop's storefront, which is located at 800 SW Adams St., Suite 106, received its second site approval in the past year for liquor to be served.

A multimillion-dollar renovation of the Peoria County Courthouse will begin next week in what will be a significant overhaul of the exterior of the building. Capped at $6.76 million in construction costs, the Courthouse Plaza and surrounding block will undergo an aesthetic upgrade that will include "new permeable pavers, water jets, lighting, electrical and irrigation systems, vehicle protection bollards, benches, picnic tables, and landscaping," according to a news release.

Peoria police officers and other security officials had to break up an altercation Saturday following the Richwoods High School graduation at the Peoria Civic Center. Peoria Police spokeswoman Semone Roth said juveniles were arrested but did not say how many. Peoria Public Schools said Monday the situation was "swiftly resolved" and did not disrupt the graduation ceremony for Richwoods graduates.

Fences have been mended between the owners of El Gallo Bar & Grill and Peoria businessman Jorell Glass following a turbulent week on social media. Glass, attorney Chris McCall and the owners of El Gallo Bar and Grill, José Reteguin Jr. and Sr., can be seen making amends for the situation in a video posted Friday on Facebook, shaking hands and putting to rest the controversy that dominated social media in the Peoria area.
