Ocean Friendly Gardens are full of native California plants and contouring or bioswales in the ground that help absorb rain and water and keep stormwater from spilling onto sidewalks, the streets, storm drains, and the ocean.

Sick sea life continues to show up along the shores of SoCal. Though it’s only mid-April, the organization caring for the sick and responding to the dead marine mammals in Los Angeles County has blown through about three-quarters of its annual budget. That’s why the county has looked into providing some funding, up to $700,000, to the Marine Mammal Care Center in San Pedro to help continue to address sick sea life that shows no signs of slowing down.
