    Scottish tennis icon Judy Murray is visiting Meldrum House hotel this summer for a Wimbledon-themed dinner and afternoon tea. Attendees will be treated to “behind the scenes” stories from Judy’s tennis career and her time competing on Strictly Come Dancing. The event is planned on June 19th, just weeks before Wimbledon kicks off. Judy, well known for coaching her sons Andy and Jamie Murray, also had her own illustrious tennis career, winning 64 national titles.

    Earlier this week, there was outcry when Jamaican singer Sean Paul showed up late to a gig in Dublin. I was wary, therefore, as we watched the screen light up with a Jamaican flag. The fifth support act – both DJs and rappers spent two and a half hours building the hype for the man himself – promised Sean was coming soon. I braced myself for disappointment.

    The new M&S coffee shop is finally open at Union Square in Aberdeen. The food hall opened with plenty of fanfare yesterday morning, with a ribbon cutting, a huge inflatable Percy Pig and free tote bags for customers. The coffee shop is situated upstairs, and has a huge array of baked goods to choose from, including seasonal Easter treats at the moment. It is absolutely packed with eager customers when we arrive for an early lunch.

    Ellon grandad Ali Michie’s life changed forever when he discovered he had leukaemia. Ali is well known in the community, having worked in the fire service in Aberdeen for 28 years before he retired. Before that, he was a soldier for nine years, touring in Germany, Belize and Northern Ireland. Ali also taught Sunday school at Sheddocksley Baptist Church for 26 years. “I just loved interacting with the kids. They just soak it all in,” he says.

    Aberdeen born and bred foodie Julia Bryce is teaming up with Somebody Feed Phil star for the second time this weekend. The duo appeared together during season seven of Phil Rosenthal’s show, Julia showing off her expansive foodie knowledge in the Scotland episode. Now, she’s joining him for an event in Glasgow, interviewing the star on stage at the O2 Academy this weekend. Julia, who grew up in Bridge of Don, also plans to bring Phil a selection of “good old Aberdeen rowies”.
