A coordinated effort is once again underway to combat street racing and stunt driving in the Greater Toronto Area. Led by Peel Regional Police, in partnership with Ontario Provincial Police, Toronto Police Service, York Regional Police, Halton Regional Police, and Hamilton Police Service, Project ERASE (Eliminate Racing Activity on Streets Everywhere) kicked off for the season in Brampton on Tuesday morning.

Two coyotes believed to be responsible for attacking several dogs in the Liberty Village and Fort York areas have been euthanized, the City of Toronto says. The municipality said that this “difficult decision” comes amid a “continuation of escalated interactions with coyotes” and follows a “thoughtful and thorough” review that was conducted earlier this year and entailed staff using aversion techniques on coyotes, and educating residents on how to keep themselves and their pets safe.

A Toronto woman is facing charges after allegedly assaulting and uttering death threats and anti-Indian slurs at a victim on the TTC. The incident, which police are calling hate-motivated, occurred on Aug. 13, 2024, at Finch West Subway Station. Toronto police said they were called to the station at around 6:30 p.m. after receiving a radio call for an assault that had just happened.

A 20-year-old man from Richmond Hill has been charged with sexual assault after allegedly inappropriately touching a victim at a local public pool. The incident happened on April 5 at the Bayview Hill Community Centre and Pool near Spadina and Weldrick roads, just south of Major Mackenzie Drive East. York Regional Police said it occured when the victim swam by. On Tuesday, police announced that Milan Horvath, 20, of Richmond Hill, has been charged with sexual assault.

Toronto police say they’ve located one of two vehicles allegedly involved in a hit-and-run in southwest Scarborough late last week that claimed the life of a 27-year-old woman. The collision happened on May 8 near Birchmount Road and St. Clair Avenue East. Police say the victim was walking in the northbound lanes of Birchmount, near Anaconda Avenue, when she was struck by the driver of a white cargo van who was heading in the same direction. The motorist fled the area and has not been found.
