One of the most popular children's entertainers in Canada made the 42nd annual Winnipeg International Children's Festival an event to remember. Winnipeg's own Fred Penner was scheduled to perform three times at this year's Kidsfest. Hundreds of families headed to The Forks on each of the festival's first three days. There were many children's and family-friendly activities, such as sports, puzzles, science demos, a surf simulator, crafts, an instrument petting zoo, and more.

The 16th Manitoba Motorcycle "Ride for Dad" event kicked off Saturday morning at Polo Park. The annual ride marks the start of a six-week awareness and education campaign for prostate cancer, with emphasis of the importance of early detection. Although the skies were grey in Winnipeg Friday morning, the 2SLGBTQ+ community brought their colours and were loud and proud as they watched the Pride flag being raised at City Hall, kicking off the Pride season all across the country.
