    Now in its 18th year, Artmap Argyll’s Open Studios event will run from August 16 to 25. This year there are 57 Artmap locations showcasing artists working in a variety of different disciplines, from painting and printmaking, to textiles and sculpture, ceramics, photography and more. The iconic red dot trail stretches nearly 100 miles and even extends across the water to Mull and Tiree.

    Oban TimesNewsPrince Edward and Duchess Sophie arrived on the Isle of Kerrera today and spent time meeting islanders and learning about community projects. The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh arrived at Oban’s North Pier Pontoons this morning (Thursday May 22), where they were greeted by Oban Lifeboat chairman Ian Henry and coxswain Ally Cerexhe. The pair spent time chatting to the volunteer crew members before boarding The Campbell-Watson lifeboat to travel across Oban Bay to Kerrera Marina.

    The Royals departed from the North Pier Pontoons in Oban and were taken to Kerrera on Oban RNLI’s lifeboat, The Campbell-Watson. At Kerrera Marina the couple had the opportunity to meet the marina staff and local residents. They were then led to The Waypoint Restaurant where Neil Owen from the Oban War & Peace Museum gave a presentation on WW2 convoys and RAF flying boat escorts from Oban.
