IRISH people are being advised to use burner phones and wipe their personal data if they are travelling to the US. It comes as fear grow over deportation from the country following a crackdown on immigration by US president Donald Trump. Fears have been mounting over digital surveillance at US borders, with agents inspecting personal devices and data. This surveillance has included agents getting access to emails, social media accounts, photos, and private communications.

THOUSANDS of Irish tourists heading to Spain over the Easter holidays have been warned to brace for disruptions. Hotel workers in the Canary Islands have commenced a two-day industrial action that clashes with peak Easter travel times. The strike in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is scheduled to take place over April 17 and 18. And thousands of hotel workers from across the holiday hotspots have since staged action outside hotels in a dispute over pay.

ROAD users across the country have been warned to expect delays this morning following a number of road traffic collisions. The busy stretch of the M6 between Athlone and Ballinasloe before Junction 14 was closed this morning following a multi-vehicle crash. The road has since reopened following the collision. The Irish Sun has contacted Gardai for a statement. In Kilkenny a single vehicle collision is also causing delays for road users.

A TOTAL of 12 counties are under a Status Yellow rainfall warning this morning as weather bosses warn heavy rain will "just keep coming". Met Eireann have warned of flooding and "fairly difficult travelling conditions" as that heavy rain pelts Ireland. THERE'S a major treat for Irish stargazers as a big meteor event will be visible in our skies in just days. The Lyrid meteor shower will be visible next week mainly between April 19 and April 25. The meteor shower will last several days, and Irish stargazers will be treated to what is expected to be the peak on April 22. And across the UK and Ireland, the best time to view the breathtaking event is between 4am and 5am. For the best views face east and then turn 30 degrees towards the north-east.
