EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A new poll from Morning Consult shows Gov. Dan McKee and President Donald Trump have the same approval ratings. The poll shows 43% of Rhode Islanders approve of the job McKee is doing as governor and Trump is doing as president during the first quarter of 2025. While their approval ratings are the same, their disapproval ratings are far apart, with McKee at 41% and Trump at 54%.

TIVERTON, R.I. (WPRI) - The family of a fallen soldier from Tiverton is one step closer to getting the Sakonnet River Bridge renamed after him. Staff Sergeant Christopher Potts served in the Rhode Island National Guard for more than 14 years. He was deployed to Iraq in 2004 and killed in combat on his birthday, Oct. 3.

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) - The South Coast Rail is now in service for the first time in 65 years. Jules Wang is from Quincy and was in New Bedford bright and early Monday morning, catching a ride on one of the first trains. "This is going to be a game changer for the region," Wang said. "I'm going to be seeing friends more often here because of this train."There will be 32 daily trips on the South Coast Rail to and from Boston's South Station.

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) - This weekend 17 people will embark on a 24-hour mission to support Special Olympics Rhode Island (SORI). During the Torch Run Super Plunge, the 17 plungers will take a dunk in the chilly waters of Narragansett Bay every hour for an entire day. "It just inspires you to do more and want to be a part of something that is certainly changing the lives of not just the athletes, but changing lives of their family," SORI President Ed Pacheco told 12 News.
