B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix says a unique payment scheme for doctors at South Okanagan General Hospital is working as intended to reduce intermittent closures of the emergency department due to physician shortages. Dix and the rest of the B.C. New Democratic Party caucus were in the region to start the week and conducted a press conference Wednesday at SOGH to tout an expanded primary care network in the South Okanagan-Similkameen.

Expect to find out “very soon” who will fly the B.C. New Democratic Party’s flag in the Penticton-Summerland riding in the October provincial election. The NDP caucus, which formed government in 2017, is in Osoyoos this week for meetings on the heels of an announcement Sunday that single-term MLA Roly Russell has been nominated as the party’s candidate again in the riding of Boundary-Similkameen.
