Three men identified after a barge theft in Clay County

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A number of construction tools were stolen from a barge in Clay County. This afternoon, the three men seen in a surveillance video were identified by deputies. Sheriff Eddie Scott said they are cooperating with the investigation. The barge was at Tom Sawyer Grain on Old Highway 50. A report was filed after the owner discovered the missing items. The victim said a generator, chainsaws, drills, and a presser washer were among the items stolen.

Man faces child pornography charges in Calhoun Co.

CALHOUN COUTNY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Calhoun County man is facing a child pornography charge. Tyler Wayne Kirby has been charged with child pornography and filming another person without permission. Sheriff Greg Pollan said the two charges are unrelated. Deputies received a tip from a national cyber crime agency last week about the possibility of child pornography being downloaded by Kirby. Pollan said Kirby’s electronics were seized after a search warrant was secured.

NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Noxubee County man is facing a drug charge. Paris Wells was indicted for possession of a controlled substance. He is accused of having cocaine on him when he was arrested. The incident happened back in February of 2022. A court date for Wells has not been set. Police in search of suspect after burglary in Tupelo

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Tupelo police are asking for help finding a burglary suspect. The break-in happened on Monday, April 7. A location was not given. This is a still image from surveillance footage. It shows a man with long dark hair. He’s wearing a long jacket, blue jeans, boots, and a beanie. Several items were taken. COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Good parents will give up the world for their children, including doing whatever possible to save their life. Margaret Rollins shared her story about being a living organ donor. Rollins gave her daughter a portion of her liver in 2018. She was invited to speak at the free Learn at Lunch at Baptist Golden Triangle. April is National Donate Life Month. This is a time to raise awareness of organ and tissue donation. Folks also learned how they can become organ donors.

NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Noxubee County man has been indicted on two different charges from two different incidents. Zachary Slaughter was charged with burglary of a commercial building and aggravated assault. Court documents allege that Slaughter broke into a building in Brooksville back in June 2024. He’s also accused of pouring a hot liquid on a victim during an unrelated incident in October 2024. No court date has been set for Slaughter.

MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) – Assessments from this past weekend’s deadly storms in Mississippi continue. Damage has been reported in 20 counties. In our viewing area, Alcorn, Kemper, Lafayette, Lowndes, Pontotoc, and Union Counties all have reported damage. Marshall County was hardest hit in the state with 88 homes damaged. Injuries were reported in Marshall and Pontotoc Counties. One person died in Jasper County. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said that, so far, 274 homes were damaged.
Multiple people facing charges after a stabbing in Louisville Co.

LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Multiple people are facing charges, as Louisville police continue to investigate a deadly stabbing. Police Chief Sean Holdiness said officers were called about a fight on Thursday evening, April 3, on Pineywood Drive. 25-year-old Breana Davis, of Louisville, was stabbed in the neck. She died at the scene. Several people were taken into custody during the investigation. Detectives are reviewing video evidence near the scene and of the incident.
