TEXAS CITYJackson Higgins hit a two-out grand slam in the first inning, and Santa Fe kept its foot on the gas in a 15-2 victory over Texas City in a District 20-5A baseball game Tuesday at Robinson Stadium. The Indians, who scored every inning, pounded out nine hits and took advantage of 12 walks to win the game in five innings on the 10-run rule. Six of the walks came around to score, and two came with the bases loaded. The Stings also hit two batters with one coming around to score.

DEER PARKClear Springs batted around in the first inning, and Carter Lewis hurled a three-hitter as the Chargers blasted Deer Park 7-0 in a District 24-6A baseball game Thursday at Jim Kethan Field. Lewis struck out four, hit two and walked none in the complete-game gem. “Carter did a good job,” Clear Springs coach Chris Floyd said. “He kept them off-balance all night, and we played good defense. TEXAS CITYSanta Fe scored two runs on a two-out error in the fifth inning, and Carlie Hrncir tossed a one-hitter as the Lady Indians beat Texas City 2-0 in a District 20-5A softball game Tuesday at Texas City High School. Hrncir struck out 12, walked three and hit a batter to propel the Lady Indians (15-12 overall, 6-5 district) into the playoffs after missing the postseason last year. They went four rounds in 2023, before being swept 2-0 by Georgetown in the region semifinals.

LEAGUE CITYClear Creek batted around and scored five runs in the third inning, and the Wildcats rode the big inning to a 7-3 victory over Clear Lake in a District 24-6A softball game Friday at Clear Creek High School. Creek (16-4 overall, 10-2 district) clinched a playoff berth with the win and remained in sole possession of the district lead. The Wildcats went into play Friday leading Deer Park and Clear Springs by a game with three to play.

DICKINSONSebastian Larrios’ two-out, RBI single snapped a 2-2 tie in the third inning, and Dickinson starter Brady Chadwick tossed a five-hitter to lead the Gators past Clear Springs 3-2 in a District 24-6A baseball game Tuesday at Leeland Williams Field. All three Dickinson runs came with two outs in the inning, and Chadwick overcame a rocky second inning as the Gators (10-8 overall, 5-4 district) tightened up the race for a playoff spot with five games left in league play.
