TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Marana Police Department has a new device to help map out crime scenes. It’s a Trimble X9 scanner and it’s been on the department’s wish list for years. It uses lasers to measure crime scenes. Usually, investigators would do all of this by hand by drawing out the crime scene. But now, this machine takes care of it. “It sends a laser out and uses a data mapping with point cloud, so it knows where things are,” said MPD Crime Scene Specialist Taylor Pitzer.

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Today is a First Alert Action Day due to the potential of reaching 100 degrees. It’s important to keep in mind that these temperatures can be dangerous, especially during the midday hours. We also have a Fire Weather Watch in place for all of Southern Arizona today and tomorrow because of 20-30 mph winds and humidity as low at 7%. That all can contribute to dangerous fire conditions. We’ll stay near 100 degrees tomorrow before temps drop into the mid 80s Wednesday.

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Residents of a Tucson neighborhood are voicing their concerns after what they say was an inadequate roadway update. The project, which is a resealing of the roads in the Palo Verde Neighborhood, has been taking place over the last few days. “Everybody I’ve talked to in this neighborhood is not satisfied, and we’re just very disappointed and wondering if the city has just run out of money,” said Larry Mucklow a nearby resident.

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A new mock pipe system will help train Tucson firefighters on how best to respond to gas leaks. It was built by Southwest Gas and offers hands-on training on something that is usually not easily demonstrated. Firefighters attach a canister of air to one set of pipes and open valves to get air flowing to another set. That air then rushes out, simulating a real gas leak.
