ELIZABETHTON — The Carter County School Board voted unanimously on Thursday to make Burleson Construction Company of Johnson City as the project manager for the repairs to Hampton High School. Hampton High School has been closed since the school was flooded on Sept. 27 by the nearby Doe River as part of the destruction caused to the region by Hurricane Helene. Since the storm, the school has been held in the building that formerly housed Keenburg Elementary School.

ELIZABETHTON — The Building and Grounds Committee of the Carter County Commission took steps Tuesday evening to clear up the future status of one of the oldest houses in Elizabethton. By a unanimous vote the committee instructed Carter County Attorney Josh Hardin to get in contact with the three known heirs of the Henderson Folsom family to discuss their interest in the house at 824 E. Elk Ave.

The primary purpose of the strategic visioning is to assess current conditions and to plan for the future of economic and community development in Carter County. Logan Engle, Assistant City Manager of Elizabethton, is leading the discussions. Tuesday’s meeting was focused on one of the six visions of the program.
