AAA said it expects more than 45 million Americans to be traveling domestically for the holiday weekend, which it defines as Thursday, May 22, through Monday, May 26.     Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck and injured a 14-year-old boy near a middle school in Wyandanch on Friday. Suffolk County Police said the teen was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of minor injuries. The condition of the teen — and the extent of any injuries — was not immediately known. The hit-and-run took place near the intersection of 35th Street and Garden City Avenue around 8:30 a.m., police said. The site is near the Milton L.

    An early morning fire Thursday at a senior housing development in Rockville Centre left three residents injured, one seriously, fire officials said. Nassau County Chief Fire Marshal Michael F. Uttaro said the fire at the Halandia Court apartments on North Centre Avenue was reported at 7:12 a.m. and brought 80 firefighters from Rockville Centre, Malverne, Lakeview and Lynbrook to the scene. Firefighters found trapped occupants in a first-floor apartment.
