Russell Foote was found shot and killed in his vehicle along what is now West Congress Street in Lafayette on May 17, 1974. Five decades later, no arrests have been made in the case. But according to Foote’s son, a motive seems clear as day. Kevin Foote was just 7 years old when his father was killed.

SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - The Sulphur City Council voted Monday night to pass a cooperative endeavor agreement with the state, allowing the city to correct an “administrative oversight” on a $5 million water grant. Sulphur has already spent $1.8 million of the Water Sector Program, which Sulphur applied for in 2021. Sulphur Mayor Mike Danahay initially signed a cooperative endeavor agreement, which the state executed in June 2022, awarding Sulphur the $5 million, he said.

Shane Manuel was demoted from his position as superintendent of roads and bridges, but while it was said it was part of a dispute about $74,000 in undelivered dirt, the reasons for his demotion were not given.

VERNON PARISH, La. (KPLC) - A Texas woman has been arrested in connection with a crash that claimed the life of a 3-year-old in Vernon Parish three years ago. Amber Allison, 34, of Burkeville, is accused of letting Regina Shafer, 31, of Leesville, get behind the wheel prior to the fatal accident, according to court documents. Allison initially offered to drive the vehicle because Shafer was intoxicated, the court documents read.
