He didn’t know exactly what kind of treasure he’d found until he and his father pulled it out of the water Tuesday using a makeshift crane mounted on a lawn mower. “It had been eating at me for a long time,” said Faus, an Elkhart native with a strong interest in local railroad history.

No injuries or deaths were reported in the wake of the twister, which touched down about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday near the Hawthorne Early Learning Center and moved southeast toward South Main Street between Lusher and Hively avenues.
