Thunderstorms brought torrential rainfall to parts of Evansville and Vanderburgh County on Friday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood warning. The agency upgraded the flash flood warning to an emergency at 6:13 p.m., citing "3 to 6 inches of rain" that had fallen in parts of the city. The emergency covered the Red Bank, Mechancisville, Airport and Harwood neighborhoods. "Additional moderate to heavy rain is anticipated," the weather service stated in a bulletin.

EVANSVILLE – The 3-year-old Evansville boy killed in an accidental shooting on Saturday was a "joyful child" who loved riding in cars. That's according to the obituary for Jayvinvontae "Jay" Keion-Ray Carter. The little boy who family described as "always full of energy and wonder" will be laid to rest Monday afternoon at Oak Hill Cemetery following a celebration of life at Browning Funeral Home.

EVANSVILLE – Two of the busiest exit ramps in Evansville are set to temporarily close later this month. Starting on or around June 17, construction crews will block both the interchange from the westbound Lloyd Expressway onto southbound U.S. 41 and its counterpart, the exit off southbound U.S. 41 onto the westbound Lloyd. According to a news release from the Indiana Department of Transportation, it's part of the ongoing effort to overhaul U.S. 41 between Diamond Avenue and the Lloyd.
