Long Island consumers and businesses could see lower gas prices this summer after a group of oil exporting countries said Saturday they would significantly increase oil production in June. U.S. crude oil prices fell about 2% on Monday to their lowest level since 2021, or about $57.01 per barrel as of 4 p.m. The price of a barrel of West Texas Intermediate, a U.S. benchmark, has fallen about 27% from a year ago.

Long Island Housing Services said it has reached two separate settlements with a real estate agent in Huntington and the owner of a single-family home in Holbrook, alleging they turned away potential renters who tried to use Section 8 housing vouchers. The settlements of administrative complaints filed with the state Division of Human Rights are the latest examples documented by the nonprofit fair housing agency.

Long Islanders searching for affordable apartment options can apply for one of 53 units available in Hempstead Village just steps from the Long Island Rail Road. Estella, a five-story, 96-unit, apartment building, is accepting housing lottery applications through May 29 to select tenants who meet certain income criteria to pay below-market rents, according to nonprofit developer Concern Housing.
