SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The trial for Kent Cody Barlow — the Utah man accused of hitting and killing two three-year-old boys while driving high on meth in 2022 — began this week. After jury selection was completed, Barlow’s trial began on Thursday, April 17, nearly three years after the crash that left two Eagle Mountain toddlers dead. On the first day of the trial, Barlow’s defense attorney — Justin Morrison — told the jury that Barlow is, in fact, responsible for the death of these two boys.

EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah (ABC4) — In Eagle Mountain, the Utah County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a handful of pride flags were stolen. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office released doorbell camera footage showing what appears to be two teenagers ripping a pride flag down from the front porch. A third person is seen pulling a transgender flag out of the grass in the yard.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — After three Americans were convicted of participating in a failed coup attempt in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the country’s presidency returned the Americans — two of whom are from Utah — to the United States on Tuesday. According to the Associated Press, Congo agreed to return the Americans to U.S. soil where they would serve their life sentences in federal prison. The prisoners left the African nation on Tuesday morning and have been transferred into U.S. custody.
