More than $3,000 and hundreds of items donated for Millville families displaced by a deadly April 9 fire along South 4th Street have been delivered to the victims, according to AAA South Jersey. Auto club spokesman Matt Bowker said Thursday that the donation drive ended April 25. Any additional donations that come in are to be passed to the Phenom Factory, which organized its own drive, and the Holly City Development Corp. in Millville.

DEPTFORD TWP. — A controversial two-hotel development off Route 41 and Harmony Lane should be underway this year — but will it? Members of Deptford Township's planning board and SSN Hotels of Wilmington, Delaware find themselves headed to court for the second time in a year over their handling of the public review of the $20-million project. They are codefendants in a lawsuit filed April 15 in state court. Harmony Lane residents Richard and Janet Graham are the plaintiffs.

Millville officials have filled one of two additional police lieutenant positions they authorized in March. Lt. Jason Vinzinski was sworn in at the city commission meeting April 15. He was hired as a patrolman in September 2005 and had been a sergeant since 2016. Chief Ross Hoffman said the new position is meant to add supervision over the Patrol Division.

In South Millville, authorities, police and public safety workers are searching for two missing girls in the aftermath of a blaze that's destroyed several homes. “We’re still out here,” City Commissioner Kirk Hewitt said from the scene, shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday. “Fire’s out. But there are two girls we are looking for. "And we have two state police cadaver dogs out.”The destroyed houses are among a handful on the 300 block of South 4th Street not far from a railroad line.

Wildwood officials are repeating their “behave or else” message to juveniles and their parents ahead of 2025 high school prom season and senior week celebrations. In the last several years, officials have reset the juvenile curfew clock from 1 a.m., to midnight, to 11 p.m. and, most recently, to 10 p.m. There are some exceptions, such as when a teen is accompanied by a parent or guardian. Mayor Ernie Troiano, fellow elected officials and police laid out the rules in an announcement April 2.
