(WKBN)- The Social Security Administration is now checking phone calls for fraud. The White House says it spent $16 million on new anti-fraud software, which will allow employees to flag suspected fraud over the phone. ‘Social Security’ didn’t say what could be considered a ‘fraud-risk indicator’, but says 70-thousand calls a year could be flagged. Those who are suspected must go to a Social Security office in person. AdvertisementAdvertisementCopyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
