    CLARION TWP. -- For five-and-a-half innings, Clarion-Limestone’s Logan Lutz and A-C Valley/Union’s Sebastian Link were locked in a pitcher’s duel that looked like it might go the distance but in the bottom of the sixth, the Lions abruptly ended the pitcher’s battle.  The Lions scored nine times in the bottom of the sixth frame to earn a 9-0 victory on Thursday afternoon (April 17) at the C-L Sports Complex where the Lions celebrated Senior day.

    DuBOIS — Winning its first game of the season, the Clarion-Limestone Lions baseball team did it on the turf at Showers Field, beating Brockway 7-2 last Saturday afternoon. The 1-6 Lions, who lost 2-1 at Brockway back on April 4, were supposed to host Keystone Tuesday, but the game was rained out. Thursday, they’re scheduled to host A-C Valley/Union. Next Tuesday and Thursday, the Lions visit Karns City and host Johnsonburg.

    CLARION TWP. -- On Saturday afternoon (April 5) at Clarion-Limestone High School, 40 senior basketball players (20 girls and 20 boys) from around District 9 gathered to play in the 22nd annual sportsmanship I All-star games.   The girls’ game kicked off the day with the Red team defeating the Blue team 55-46.   The Blue team won the opening quarter 12-8 before the Red team would hold a 17-13 second quarter scoring edge to tie the game 25-25 by halftime.

    STRATTANVILLE — After a 3-3 tie in the top of the second inning, the Central Clarion Wildcats softball team tallied five runs each in the bottom of the second and third innings to pull away for a 15-4 five inning victory over Forest Area on a chilly Tuesday afternoon at the C-L Sports Complex. Emileigh Mahle and Ashlyn Clark sparked the offense with Mahle collecting two hits including a triple while scoring four times.

    STRATTANVILLE — Breaking a tie game wide open, the visiting Redbank Valley Bulldogs plated eight runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat Clarion-Limestone 14-7 last Thursday afternoon at the C-L Sports Complex. The Bulldogs (1-3) trailed 6-5 before scoring a run in the sixth and eight in the seventh. The Lions set the final with a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Please @Pirates broadcaster who interviews BC ask him why Nick York and or Billy Cook are not on this MLB roster? If we're going to keep losing anyway I'd like to see what these young guys can do.

Well I'm glad the @CleGuardians are on Directv now so I can turn off this @Pirates game. Looks like i may watch more Cleveland games than Pirates games this season.
