The Spring Lake girls soccer team moved one step closer to defending its Division 2 state championship on Tuesday night. The Lakers used an unassisted goal by senior Nia Theune in the second half to secure a 1-0 win over Mount Pleasant in the Division 2 regional semifinals at Forest Hills Northern High School and advance to Thursday’s regional championship game. Spring Lake (12-6-2) will face Grand Rapids Christian (10-9-2) at 6 p.m. Thursday with a regional championship on the line.

NORTON SHORES, MI – The Kalamazoo Christian girls soccer team had one mission heading into Tuesday’s matchup with No. 1 Western Michigan Christian in the Division 4 regional semifinal. Don’t let No. 2 touch the ball. Western Michigan Christian senior standout Nora Pollock registered 38 goals in just 18 games this spring and the Comets took an all-hands-on-deck approach to slowing down the playmaker for the Warriors.

MUSKEGON, MI – Five Muskegon-area high school baseball teams captured district titles last weekend and advanced to Wednesday’s regional semifinals. Fruitport, Ludington, Hart, Western Michigan Christian and Muskegon Catholic Central will all be back in action Wednesday in their respective regional semifinal matchups. The winners advance to Saturday’s regional championship games, while the losers will endure an abrupt end to their otherwise memorable season.
