SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Local law enforcement has been gifted $700,000 to help officers solve gun-related crime thanks to a bill passed by Springfield City Council Monday night. The bill — which passed with flying colors — will establish a new crime gun intelligence center, funded by a grant from the Department of Justice. Springfield Police Chief Paul Williams says he knew the bill would pass, and he’s ready to put the money to good use.

One problem area remains, the Mason Bridge on Highway 32 in Texas County is closed for the foreseeable future.
