    LANETT, Ala. (WTVM) - A manufacturing company in Lanett has announced plans to close its doors later this year. Berry Global announced that it will close its operations on July 1, 2025. According to the Alabama Department of Commerce’s “WARN List,” the closure will affect 112 employees. Berry Global, a manufacturer of plastics for packaging and shipping with over 240 facilities worldwide, was acquired by Amcor in April 2025 and now operates under the Amcor name.

According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, the father and son died at Bull Creek Golf Course in Midland. The victims were identified as 58-year-old Matthew Terrell Collins Sr. and 29-year-old Matthew Terrell Collins Jr., both from Harris County. The coroner said when a storm hit the golf course, the victims took cover under a tree while in their golf cart.
