    CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) - The Walk to Defeat ALS-Chippewa Valley is happening Saturday, May 31 at Irvine Park in Chippewa Falls. ASL is also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease after the New York Yankees player who died in 1941 of ALS. The disease is a progressive, fatal, neurodegenerative disease. Fundraising through the walk provides for research which could lead to a treatment and ultimately a cure for ALS.

The event is Sunday, May 18 from Noon - 8 p.m. at the Corral Restaurant & Riverside Grill in Durand. The tribute to the Fab Four features more than 50 performers playing music from The Beatles. The event is free, but donations are accepted to help present “Blues on the Chippewa”, an event that happens in Durand in August.

    EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - Feed My People Food Bank will hold its 25th Annual Empty Bowls fundraiser on Thursday, May 15. The fundraiser helps to take a bite out of local hunger. Last year, the fundraiser raised enough groceries for over 230,000 meals for local children, seniors and families experiencing food insecurity. The fundraiser will be held at Feed My People Food Bank in Eau Claire from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. on May 15.
